Ruth has been a leading actor for over twenty -five years, as a classical actor she toured the world with the Royal Shakespeare Company in Katie Mitchell’s company and received a Best Actor nomination for the Manchester Evening News awards for her role as Queen Margaret in Mitchell’s production of Henry VI part 3. Ruth has appeared in the premieres of award winning new plays, Kindertransport, for the Soho Theatre and Smoke for the Manchester Royal Exchange and in Ted Hughes modern version of Spring Awakening for the RSC. She is one of a handful of female actors to play Hamlet in an all female production for the Women’s Theatre Group, (now known as Sphinx theatre company) article here.

Ruth is an associate lecturer at Plymouth University teaching Voice, Text and Sited Performance; she is a member of a collective called ripple who are currently creating cemetery audio trails and she is an associate artist with Dreadnought South West
