Ruth Mitchell is a theatremaker based in the South West of England. She works across traditional theatre and sited performance, creating work that is rooted in heritage and autobiography and where the architecture of the site is used as inspiration for narrative.

A leading actor in film, theatre and television for over twenty years, Ruth was a member of Katie Mitchell’s company at the R.S.C for four years receiving a Best Actor nomination at the Manchester Evening News awards for Queen Margaret in Mitchell’s production of Henry VI. She appeared in the premieres of award winning new plays, Kindertransport for the Soho Theatre and Smoke at the Manchester Royal Exchange, in the adaptation of the Whitebread, prize-winning novel Not the End of the World at the Bristol Old Vic and in Ted Hughes’ version of Spring Awakening for the RSC.
